What is the safe concentration limit of hydrogen chloride in the air

According to occupational safety standards, the time-weighted average concentration of hydrogen chloride in the air of the workplace (8 hours) is usually not more than 5 ppm (parts per million), and the short-term exposure limit (15 minutes) is not more than 15 ppm. Exceeding this range may cause acute poisoning or chronic health damage.

 

What should be done in case of a hydrogen chloride leak

If there is a leak of hydrogen chloride, you should do the following immediately:

· Wear protective equipment (gas masks, chemical-resistant suits) to avoid direct contact with the gas;

 

· Evacuate to higher ground and in the direction of the wind (the density of hydrogen chloride is greater than that of air, and it tends to deposit at lower levels);
